As I look at magazine, journal and online periodical editorial standards, I notice that some of these markets explicitly exclude certain genres of fiction. If you want to acquire skill as a writer, but don't want to do it the old-fashioned way (hard work, practice, BIC method, etc.), it seems to me that there are two good options:
